Hi! I’m Nikita, and I’m studying the MSc course at St Antony’s this year. I recently completed my undergraduate degree from Merton College in History and Spanish, where I studied a range of modules, including modern Latin American literature, translation into and out of Spanish, and global and imperial history. During my degree I completed a year abroad in Spain, and I have now lived in Madrid, Córdoba and Granada, where I have continued to develop my Spanish language skills. My interest in the region developed through my modules on 20th and 21st century Latin American literature, where I took a particular interest in novels of dictatorship and political fiction, which centred the relationship between history and literature. In this course I am most excited for the opportunity to pursue an interdisciplinary approach, further exploring the intersection between modern Latin American history, politics, and culture, with a particular focus on institutionalised violence in Mexico. Outside of academia, you can find me cooking, and I love trying new recipes and cuisines.
