Marcelo de Almeida Medeiros received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Grenoble (1997) and his Habilitation Thesis (HDR) from the Institut d’Études Politiques de Paris - Sciences Po (2010). He is Professor of Comparative International Politics at the Federal University of Pernambuco - UFPE (Recife-Brazil) and PQ-1C Research Fellow of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development – CNPq (Brasilia – Brazil). He was Rio Branco Chair in International Relations – Latin American Centre - University of Oxford (2015) and Simon Bolivar Chair in Political Science - Institut des Hautes Études de l'Amérique Latine - Université Sorbonne Nouvelle (2009). He was also Director of International Relations of the Brazilian Political Science Association – ABCP and Board member of the International Political Science Association - IPSA (2008-2012). Professor Medeiros’ research interests cover International Politics and Comparative Government, especially the following topics: Mercosur, Brazilian Foreign Policy, European Union, French Foreign Policy, Institutions, Governance and Democracy. His current work focuses on Regional (Dis) Integration and Nationalist Logics in Comparative Perspective.
