I am a current candidate on the MSc Latin American Studies programme at the LAC and a member of Kellogg College. Being a dual citizen of both Brazil and Finland, I have had the opportunity to observe Latin America and Brazil as both an insider and an outsider. Originally, my interest in Latin America stemmed from wanting to represent the region as well as possible abroad. Nonetheless, my interest quickly grew once I understood how diverse and multi-layered Latin America is.
I hold a BSc in Economic History from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). During my undergraduate studies I focused on Latin America’s post-democratisation era and the economic reforms of the 1990s, when Latin America was recovering from the so-called ‘Lost Decade’ of the 1980s.
At the LAC, I wish to complement the knowledge that I have gained previously. In particular, I hope to study the effect that economic policy and populism have had on the region’s economies.
