Joana Perrone

My thesis is provisionally titled "Economy and embodiment: a new theory for analysing feminicide in Brazil" and is being done under the supervision of Prof Leigh Payne. It looks at the role of the contemporary Brazilian state in feminicide in the country. Through an analysis emphasising discursive aspects surrounding questions of victimhood, grievability and political violence, my research explores the gender dimensions of bio and necropolitics within the Brazilian context.
