Hi! I'm Jinyan Yuan, an MSc student in Latin American Studies at Wolfson College. I completed my BA in Spanish Language and Culture at Beijing Foreign Studies University. During my exchange studies at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, I developed a strong interest in topics such as gender, intersectionality, migration, and the experiences of marginalized communities in Latin America. This led me to write my undergraduate dissertation on how devotion to Our Lady of Guadalupe shapes Mexican American cultural identity, compared with Mazu worship among Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. At the LAC, I aim to further explore how historical, cultural, and economic forces shape identity and inequality across the region.
