Jesus Velasco is an associate professor in the Department of Government at Tarleton State University. He earned a Ph.D. in Political Sciences from the University of Texas at Austin. He worked at the Center for Teaching and Research in Economics (CIDE) in Mexico City where he served as Chair of the Division of International Studies from 1998 to 200. He is a former visiting scholar, at the Woodrow Wilson Center and Harvard University. Velasco is the author of four books: with Rodolfo de la Garza. Bridging the Border: Transforming Mexico-US Relation, Boulder, Rowman and Littlefield, 1997; Neoconservatives in US Foreign Policy Under Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush: Voices Behind the Throne. Baltimore, Johns Hopkins University Press and The Wilson Center, 2010 (the book was published in 2016 in Spanish by El Fondo de Cultura Economica); American Presidential Elections in Comparative Perspective: The World is Watching, Lanham, Maryland, Lexington Books, 2019, and with Tony Payan and Adolfo Lopez de la Osa of The Future of US-Mexican Relations: Foresight to 2040, Arte Publico press, 2020. Currently, he is finishing a book in the Latin American Center at Oxford University on the relationship between the Mexican government and US Intellectuals, 1920-2006.
