I am an MPhil student who is currently studying at St Antony’s college. I completed my undergraduate degree at Newcastle University, where I studied French, Spanish, Translation, and Interpreting. During my bachelor’s degree, I developed an interest in researching collective memory and trauma through analysing film and literature. I also had the opportunity to study at the Universidad del Pacífico (UP) in Lima, where I analysed the Peruvian government’s response to the genocidio del caucho, particularly focussing on the indigenous communities affected by the genocide. Whilst at Oxford, I hope to continue to develop these interests, and research the Peruvian government’s response to the internal armed conflict, with a focus on indigenous collective memory and human rights.
Outside of academia, I spent 13 months travelling overland through Latin America, starting in Buenos Aires, and finishing in Mexico City, and I look forward to returning for my research! I also enjoy hiking, spending time outdoors and good food.
