Caio Pompeia is associated with the Post-Doctoral Program in Social Anthropology at the University of São Paulo (USP). He has a PhD in Social Anthropology from the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), and completed a PhD Exchange Programme at Harvard University. He is the author of the book Formação Política do Agronegócio (2021), and his work has been published in HAU: Journal of Ethnographic Theory, Mana and Revista Brasileira de Ciências Sociais, among other journals. As an academic visitor at the University Oxford, Caio is researching the agrifood caucus, a powerful cross-party block in the Brazilian Congress. His research interests are political economy, food systems, politics and power, parliaments, democracy, climate, food and indigenous politics, and Brazil’s international trade relations.
