Boyu Liu is a PhD candidate in the School of Social Sciences at Tsinghua University. He is also a member of the Doctoral Program in Developing Country Studies at the Institute for International and Area Studies (IIAS) of Tsinghua.
He holds a Bachelor Degree at the School of Foreign Languages and a Double Degree in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Guanghua School of Management from Peking University. He is a Recognised Student at the Latin American Centre at the University of Oxford for Trinity Term 2021 under the supervision of Professor Andreza de Souza Santos.
He has spent over three years living in Brazil in South America for deep field research, which significantly reshapes his life. He can speak Portuguese fluently and has a great passion for Latin America Area Studies. He witnessed and stood with Brazilian people even when the pandemic was at its worst time in 2020. His research interests mainly focus on Brazilian Science and Technology Policy. He uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to explore whether the innovation policy in Brazil is effective and could promote innovation outcomes for the companies.
