Ángel is committed to finding innovative solutions to address the lack of judicial protection for individuals impacted by complex, high-impact criminal phenomena, with a particular focus on human rights, drug policy and health. Recognizing that the inaccessibility of justice is a multifaceted challenge, he advocates for a holistic and interdisciplinary approach, drawing on legal expertise, data, social sciences, communication, and the arts. His mission is to enable communities to take control of their own rights and legal needs, becoming active advocates and self-managers of their demands.
Ángel is a lawyer with a master's degree in International Studies from the University of Barcelona. He has coordinated the Torture Prevention Program at Documenta, Análisis y Acción para la Justicia Social, where he promoted the Observatory against Torture and the Permanent Dialogue between civil society organizations and the National Mechanism on the Prevention of Torture, among other various initiatives to prevent arbitrary detentions, torture and other state crimes. He is also the author of several guidelines on torture prevention and has facilitated many workshops and seminars to increse the knowledge and tools of public institutions in the investigation and prosecution of this crimes.
