In collaboration with Canning House and the School of Social Sciences and Government from the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Nuffield College and the Latin American Centre at the University of Oxford will host Mexico’s Watershed Presidential Election seminar on Friday 24th of May from 11:00 to 12:45. The seminar will be chaired by Laurence Whitehead with the participation of Valeria Moy (IMCO), Jesús Silva Herzog-Márquez (Tecnológico de Monterrey) and Francisco Abundis (Parametría) who will discuss various issues of interest related to June’s electoral process.
Valeria will present Mexico’s economic outlook and the main opportunities and challenges for the new government. Jesús will discuss different aspects of the largest electoral process in this country’s history, as well as the state of Mexico’s democracy and its institutions. Finally, Francisco will provide an overview of the opinion polls in Mexico one week before the election and will assess political and methodological related difficulties that pollsters have faced throughout the campaign.
