Oriana Bernasconi is lecturer of Sociology at the Department of Sociology, Universidad Alberto Hurtado, where she teaches at the doctoral, master and undergraduate programmes. She holds a PhD in Sociology (LSE, 2008), a Master (Phil) in Cultural Studies and Sociology (Birmingham University, 2002) and a Bachelor Degree in Sociology (Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, 1996). In 2009 she conducted a Postdoctoral research stay at the Groupe de Sociologie Politique et Morale, L’Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris.
She is the lead researcher of “Political Technologies of Memory: a Genealogy (1973-2013) of the devices of registration of human rights violations by the Military dictatorship in Chile”, funded by Chilean National Council of Science and Technology and the Newton grant. She is also the founder of the Universidad Alberto Hurtado’s “Human Rights and Memory Interdisciplinary Research Programme”. She is co-researcher at the The Millennium Center for Energy and Society funded by the Chilean Ministry of Economy. Her research focus on the fields of the sociology of morality and the sociology of the individual, where she has studied intergenerational biographical narratives, homelessness, moral controversies in legal initiatives, the entrepreneur, the eco/citizen and the relationship between gender and science. She has taught and written on biographical narratives. Among her publications, there are ‘Being decent, being authentic: the moral self in shifting discourses of sexuality across three generations of Chilean Women’ (Sociology, 2010); ‘Storying the Good Life: Selfhood and Morality through the Biographical Narrative’s Storyline’ (Qualitative Sociology Review, 2015); ‘What makes us to be individuals? A post-human, pragmatic and relational framework (Athenea Digital, 2015).
Manuel Guerrero Antequera is sociologist, bioethicist and musician. He holds a Phd in Sociology (Universidad Alberto Hurtado), minor degree in European Studies (Universidad de Heidelberg; Universidad de Chile; Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile); minor degree in Ethics for Scientific Research with Humans (Universidad de Chile); and minor degree in Clinic Bioethics (Universidad de Chile). He is a lecturer at the Department of Bioethics and Medical Humanities, Faculty of Medicine, University of Chile. His research areas include sociological theory, collective action, social movements, memory studies of political violence, sociology of violence and genocide studies, musicology, social neuroscience and neuro-ethics.
