Markus Hochmüller is a Visiting Professor of Political Science at Freie Universität Berlin's Institute for Latin American Studies. He is also a Senior Associate of the Global Security Programme at Pembroke College, University of Oxford, where he co-directs the project 'Colombian Lessons? Assessing the Practical and Normative Consequences of Latin American South-South Security Cooperation' (funded by the Gerda Henkel Foundation). His research focuses on security and development in Latin America with an emphasis on peace- and statebuilding, policing, and border governance. His research was published in journals such as Security Dialogue, Third World Quarterly, Alternatives, Journal of Illicit Economies and Development, Globalizations, Geoforum, and Journal of Latin American Geography.

 

Markus-Michael Müller is a Professor with Special Responsibilities in International Development Studies at Roskilde University. His research focuses on transnational security governance, policing, crime and violence, international interventions, counterinsurgency, with a regional focus on Latin America. His books include Crucible of Coercion. Latin America, Empire, Global Counterinsurgency (under contract with University of California Press); Reconfiguring Intervention: Complexity, Resilience and the ‘Local Turn’ in Counterinsurgent Warfare (co-edited with Louise Wiuff Moe, Palgrave Macmillan, 2017), The Global Making of Policing: Postcolonial Perspectives (co-edited with Jana Hoenke, Routedge, 2016); The Punitive City: Privatised Protection and Policing in Mexico City (London: Zed Books, 2016) and Public Security in the Negotiated State. Policing in Latin America and Beyond (Palgrave Macmillan, 2012). His work has has been published in journals, including, Cooperation and Conflict, Government & Opposition, Journal of Cold War Studies, Journal of Latin American Studies, Policing & Society, Security Dialogue and Third World Quarterly.
