María Teresa Calderón is PHD in history from Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne. Founder and director of the Center for Historical Studies (2003-2021) at the Externado University of Colombia. As of 2022 she is associate researcher at Mondes Americains (EHESS). Her work focuses on the transition from empire to republics in Latin America. She is the author, along with Clement Thibaud, of La majestad de los pueblos en la Nueva Granada y Venezuela, (Taurus, Universidad Externado de Colombia, 2010). They coordinated together Las revoluciones en el mundo atlántico (Taurus, Universidad Externado de Colombia, Fundación Carolina Colombia, 2006). Editor of Colombia 1910-2010 (Taurus,2010) and Política y Constitucion en tiempos de las independencias (UEC, 2017). Her latest book, Aquella república necesaria e imposible.  Colombia 1821-1832 was published by Planeta Editorial in 2021.

Victor Uribe-Urán is Professor of History and Law and Chair of the Department of History at Florida International University, Miami. An historian of the Age of Revolution, and a practitioner of comparative history, his work has addressed the history of the legal profession and state formation process in Colombia and Spanish America, and the history of domestic violence criminal law and punishment in the Atlantic. Currently he is working on the early constitutional history of Colombia with an Atlantic and Mediterranean perspective. He is also interested in microhistories of crime and the law. His research has been supported with fellowships from the Fulbright Foundation, the Mellon Foundation, and the NEH.
