The School of Geography and Environment (SoGE) and the Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) are two of the fifteen constituent parts of the Social Sciences Division at Oxford. SoGE is internationally recognized for the quality of its teaching, research and wider engagement across the breadth of human geography, physical geography and environmental studies. About the Role:
The post is offered on a full-time basis, available from 1 October 2024 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Appointments to Associate Professorships are confirmed as permanent on successful completion of a review during the first five years. The successful candidate will be expected to engage actively in research in any area of Environmental Geography, spanning the intersection between human and physical geography; and to contribute through world-class publications to the departments’ and University's international reputation for research excellence. Further responsibilities include teaching and supervising at undergraduate and graduate level, contributing fully to academic administration and examining in both Schools.
The post will be held in conjunction with a Governing Body Fellowship at St Antony’s College and their role in the College will entail advising students, serving on committees, participating in its running as a College member and trustee. The Associate Professor will also play a role in contributing to the running and development of the Latin American Centre housed at 1 Church Walk, on the premises of St Antony’s.
About You:
The successful candidate will be a specialist of Latin America who has conducted advanced research in any area of Environmental Geography, spanning the intersection between human and physical geography.
