Oxford and Latin America: A conversation with the SG of the OAS

On 9 October, the LAC organised the meeting ‘Oxford and Latin America: Conversation with the Secretary General of the Organization of American States, Dr Luis Almagro’.  During the meeting, which took place at the Medieval Kitchen in Brasenose College, Dr. Almagro discussed with a diverse group of Oxford fellows the work the University does on Latin America, on a wide range of topics, including security, democracy, human rights, culture, immigration and development, and international relations.  Oxford participants came from various disciplines across departments and divisions of the university, and also from various colleges, including St. Antony’s, St. Hugh’s, Trinity, Wadham, Linacre, Nuffield, Kellogg, St Peter’s and of course Brasenose.  Professor Llewelyn Morgan, Vice-Principal of the College opened the meeting with some welcoming remarks.   In the picture,  from right (front), Ezequiel Gonzalez-Ocanto, Leigh Payne, Hal Jones, Carlos Perez Ricart, Sebastian Alvarez, Carlos Vargas, Andreza De Souza, Luis Almagro, Maryhen Jimenez, Maria Blanco, Carlos Solar; (back) John Crabtree, Matthew Amengual, David Doyle, Simon Escoffier, Chris McKenna, Laurence Whitehead, Llewelyn Morgan, Claire Williams, Olivia Vazquez-Medina and Eduardo Posada-Carbo.
