Clément Thibaud is a historian and Professor at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris. Former director of the research unit Mondes Américains (UMR 8168), a collaborative laboratory between EHESS, CNRS, Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne, and Université Paris Nanterre and former president of H2C (Historiennes et historiens du contemporain, french professional association of modern history). Among his notable publications are Repúblicas en armas (Planeta, 2003), L’Amérique latine embrasée (Armand Colin, 2023), co-authored with Eugénia Palieraki, and Liberar el Nuevo Mundo (Prohistoria, 2024). Forthcoming, 1815. Repenser l’ère des révolutions (Presses Universitaires de France).  His research focuses on the political and social history of Latin America from the late 18th to the 19th century, with a particular emphasis on the processes of independence, republicanism, and the formation of political cultures.
