The Latin American Centre is very pleased to announce that Dr Laura Trajber Waisbich will be joining us as the new Director of the Brazilian Studies Programme. Laura first joined the University of Oxford in 2022 as a Social Sciences Division Postdoctoral Fellow to work on the project titled 'Politics of Accountability in South-South Development Cooperation'. She is particularly interested in unpacking the disputes surrounding the growing role of rising powers countries like China, India, and Brazil in the geopolitical landscape. Her research projects focus on the politics of measuring South-South cooperation, civil society engagement with and mobilization around 'Global' China, India, and Brazil, and South-South policy transfer through development cooperation.  Prior to joining Oxford, she accumulated over 10 years of experience working for civil society organizations and think tanks, primarily in Brazil and the United Kingdom. Her work revolved around various issues such as foreign policy, international development cooperation, citizen participation in policymaking, state-society relations, open government, and human rights of rising powers.
