Publication of journal article entitled “The PT at 35: Revisiting Scholarly Interpretations of Brazil’s Workers’ Party” by Oswaldo Amaral and Timothy J. Power

Oswaldo Amaral (BSP Visiting Research Associate, 2012) and Timothy J. Power have recently published an article in the Journal of Latin American Studies entitled “The PT at 35: Revisiting Scholarly Interpretations of Brazil’s Workers’ Party.” The article analyzes scholarly literature on the party through four distinct phases, examining the foundation of the PT, the party's early experience in subnational government, its transformation and moderation in the late 1990s, and finally its experiences in national government since capturing the presidency in 2002. The article is published in the annual open-access issue of JLAS and is available for download here.
