Paulo Visentini named Rio Branco Professor for 2014
Professor Paulo Visentini (Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Porto Alegre) has been selected as the Rio Branco Visiting Professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford.

On 15th October 2013, the LAC held a roundtable discussion on the legacy of the Chilean military coup of 11th September 1973, which deposed the elected Socialist president Dr Salvador Allende and led to 17 years of military dictatorship by General Augusto Pinochet.
Timothy Power Visits Institute of Latin America, Moscow
On 4th October 2013, Dr Timothy Power (Director, Brazilian Studies Programme) visited the Institute of Latin America (ILA) of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow. Dr Power gave a lecture on Brazil’s street protests of 2013 to an audience of about 30 ILA faculty and students.
