MSc Latin American Studies, 2015-16
I joined the LAC in October 2015 after seven years working as a social justice campaign organizer in the United States. Originally from Lima, I graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Environmental Studies in 2008. My extended essay analysed the political origins of the transnational mining investment boom during the authoritarian regime of Alberto Fujimori in Peru. I completed my M.Sc. in Latin American Studies in June 2016 and almost immediately became a first-year law student at University of California, Berkeley School of Law. My goal is to help create international legal systems to hold multinational mining corporations accountable for environmental and human rights abuses they commit in Latin America.
